this week at Bentley.....

It has been a very busy week in school with lots of festive events to get us all excited in the lead up to the big day!  The Christmas Fair last Friday was fantastic and a great way to start our festivities.  The choir opened the Fair with some brilliant singing, there were lots of tasty Christmas goodies to eat and drink and brilliant games to play, coordinated by the PTFA reps and Year 6.  A big thank you must go to everyone involved for all the hard work and organisation that went into making this event so much fun.  An extra special thank you goes to our PTFA Chairs: Molly, Sarah F and Sarah C, for organising the Fair.

This week, Year 1 and 2 entertained the whole school and their families with their brilliant performance of The Donkey Seller.  Well done to all the children for learning their words, songs and actions so brilliantly.  Thank you to all of you at home that helped children to learn lines and provided costumes.  We are now really looking forward to Year 3, 4 and 5’s production of No One Wraps Like an Elf on Wednesday and Thursday evening next week and Year R and Year 6 leading us in our Christmas service at church next Friday.

Everyone is beginning to look and feel a little bit tired this week after all the excitement!  I hope you can all have a restful and enjoyable weekend before returning to school on Monday for our final week of the autumn term.

Gymnastics

Congratulations to all our gymnasts who have had a brilliant term learning new skills and have all passed on to the next level.  Their certificates and medals were awarded last week at the final gymnastic session of the term.  In their PE lessons, the infants enjoyed a special Christmas gymnastics action song that was written and produced by Mrs Ince.  The link is below if you’d like to join in too!  It has simple gymnastics actions hidden amongst the fun.

Year 3, 4 and 5 Christmas Production – No One Wraps Like an Elf

Year 3, 4 and 5 will be performing No One Wraps Like an Elf on Wednesday 13th December and Thursday 14th December at 6.30 p.m.  No children under the age of 12 (including babes in arms) are permitted to watch the performances in the evening, but all the children in school will have the opportunity to watch the                                          dress rehearsal on Tuesday morning.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH and Christmas Jumper Day – Thursday 14th December

Our super Governors will be serving the pupils and staff our special Christmas lunch next week on Thursday. There are both vegetarian and meat options.

The lunch will cost £3.00. Please top up your child’s Scopay account or pay by cash via the office (unless your child is an Infant or is eligible for Free School Meals).  We encourage everyone to take part, but packed lunches can still be brought in as usual.

If your child usually has a special menu and you would like to see the ingredients of the Christmas lunch, this  can be found under the ‘Food Development Christmas  2023 Info’ at the bottom of the School menu Page

Remember to wear your Christmas jumper if you’d like to (school uniform is absolutely fine if preferred – there is no pressure to buy a new jumper or to wear one).

St. Mary’s Church Service

Year 6 and Year R will lead our church service at St Mary’s Church, Bentley on Friday 15th December at 11 a.m.  Due to space in the church, only parents of children in Year 6, Year R and the choir are invited to the service.  At the end of the service, these children will be dismissed from the church (along with their siblings).  All other children will return to school to be collected at 12.30 p.m. when school will close for the Christmas holidays.  The bus will still run on this day, leaving school at 12.30 p.m.  There will be no after-school club.
