This week at Bentley...
It has been an unprecedented and very unsettling time for us all and I will keep this newsletter as brief as I can, after daily emails about the Coronavirus all week.
We have tried to make this week as typical and busy as usual at Bentley. The infant team wowed us on Monday with a joyful display of spring throughout the office area, which we have all loved this week and it has helped to keep us cheerful.
As a school we held our super X-Factor competition today, a week early, with those singers still in school. The children were all splendid and they should be so proud of themselves for stepping up and performing so well. I was a very impressed headteacher! Our winners this year were Charlie and Max in Year 6. You can watch their performances by clicking here.
In other news…
Yr R have been learning about capacity and in their Forest Schools work this afternoon this came through very clearly as Horatio announced “We collected lots of sticks in a pile – it was bigger than Miss Smith or you, Mrs Pinchess”. Wow!
Yr 1 have really enjoyed their art work. They created beautiful block prints and really enjoyed making Mother’s day cards too
Yr 2 have been stretching their knowledge with new fractions. Laurie explained “This is when you split things up into parts, like thirds”
Yr 3 continue to enjoy their computing lessons and relished the chance to explore Word art
Yr 4 thought that Music was the best learning this week. They sang a new song which they really enjoyed ‘Lean on me’
Yr 5, like Year 2, got stuck into fractions this week and were converting fractions into percentages
Yr 6 also loved all their artwork this week and are very proud of their 3D Mother’s day cards with collage and pop up aspects in their designs
I have just said goodbye at the gate and it felt very odd not to be saying 'see you on Monday'. We will continue to send out our Friday newsletters and will see you when we open. We have two fantastic members of staff on duty each day to ring and give parents a call for a wellbeing catch up if you need to talk.
