World Book Day

Our World Book Day celebrations were a huge success this year.  Everyone involved went to a huge effort in thinking up and then sewing, making and buying amazing costumes. The staff and children looked absolutely fabulous. Staff took on a fairy tale theme this year which added some ‘magic’ (and a giggle!) to the day.

The classes also decorated their classroom door. They were truly spectacular and some were really interactive such as the Billy Goats talking troll bridge in Year 4 and the fantastic Snow White spectacular created by Year 6.  The winning door award went to Year 5 as their super bean stalk grew and grew all the way from the front door and was brilliantly complemented by their great persuasive writing by different fairy tale characters.  Click here to see photos from the day on our gallery.

A big World Book Day thank you to everyone who bought books from Judy our Usborne contact and also from the second hand book shop. We raised a phenomenal £71.50 at our second hand stall and Judy will be giving the school library a great big pile of new books too.  We had some very happy book buyers from both places so hopefully bookshelves are all fuller now! A big thank you to Julie and Lucy Gilbert who tidied up and took the remaining books to the Cancer Research Charity shop who were very grateful.

Our absolutely favourite Book Characters were…
