Trawling, more skiing and scaling great heights...

The first night went well with the usual excitement about being away with friends, but everyone got off to sleep not too late! Mrs Miffling, Miss Smith and Mrs Rushin had to wake a few sleepy heads this morning and we awoke to the most beautiful day of sunshine.

Everyone is eating well and enjoying the meals after busy sessions. Lots of fruit being eaten and water being drunk - well done Year 5. We have been the only school staying so have been lucky enough to have the run of the canteen but two other schools will arrive on Wednesday so we will be eating in rotation.

Today's activities started in the trawler with Mrs Miffling's group - she says that in previous years this has been a rather rainy activity so it was a pleasure to be out on the Solent in the sun with a lovely sea breeze. They caught a sole and lots of different types of crabs.

The other two groups were ski-ing or climbing the challenging peg tower. Mrs Rushin reports that everyone touched the top even if they weren't quite brave enough to stand on top - great work and very brave.

This evening the sun is still shining and apparently home/school seems a million miles away (in a good way!). There is plenty of activity planned before a hot chocolate and bedtime.

Tomorrow the class will be the first year group to try a new geography topic to explore the New Forest so we look forward to hearing how our young geographers get on...watch this space!
