This week at Bentley...
Welcome back to school and a very Happy New Year to you all.
Welcome back to school and a very Happy New Year to you all.
As we come to the end of what has been a truly special term, I would like to begin by saying a very heartfelt thank you for the incredible generosity shown to our school community. We have been completely overwhelmed by the thoughtful cards and gifts that have been brought into school over the past few weeks. Please know that they have been very much appreciated, and all of the staff send their sincere thanks.
The penultimate week of the autumn term has been filled with festive cheer across the school. Our Infant children amazed us with their Christmas production of Baubles, sharing the story of Christmas through wonderful singing, dancing and acting. A huge thank you to all the staff and children for their hard work in bringing this magical performance to life.
What a wonderful Christmas Fair we enjoyed last week! It was truly heart-warming to see our whole community come together in such a joyful and festive way. Our Year 6 children did a fantastic job running their stalls – they showed great responsibility, enthusiasm, and creativity, and the prizes on offer were incredibly generous. Thank you to them, and to all the parents who supported them so brilliantly.
We are all very excited for the Christmas Fair after school today. It is always such a special occasion for so many reasons—one of them being that, for me, it’s the moment I truly start to feel Christmassy! It’s also a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together, have some fun, and enjoy the festive spirit.
I know I say this a lot, but this week has really flown by! We had an exciting snow fall on Wednesday morning, where a lot of children took the opportunity to have an awe and wonder moment from playing in the snow.
We have had a wonderfully busy week in school, and I wanted to start with a huge celebration. Bentley Fireworks Night was a truly amazing show — it was fantastic to see so many of you there. A heartfelt thank you to all the PTFA members and staff who helped to make the evening such a success. Whether you were cooking food, serving drinks, selling toys, reuniting lost children with their grown-ups, or supporting in countless other ways, you all helped to make a real difference.
Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely half term and managed to spend some time together doing something you enjoy.
I can hardly believe it’s the end of the half term already – it seems to have flown by!
A huge thank you for your generous donations to the Alton Food Bank at last Thursday’s Harvest celebration. I was so disappointed to miss it, but I’ve heard that the children were absolutely amazing – speaking their lines beautifully and singing with real gusto!
A huge thank you to everyone who had a school dinner on Census Day – this really helps our school and your support makes a big difference. Thank you also to all those who completed the catering survey. It was wonderful to see so many positive comments. The strengths you highlighted included the amount of choice available, the popular salad bar, the quality of food, the larger portions, the fresh bread each day and, of course, the much-loved jacket potatoes.
Although the weather has been cold this week, we have been lucky that it has stayed dry, which has meant the children have enjoyed plenty of time outside. One highlight for me was watching some of our Year 5 and 6 children playing a football match at lunchtime. Their sportsmanship was brilliant to see — congratulating each other on goals and saves — and the match ended with a phenomenal 9–9 draw!
