This week at Bentley...

It has certainly been a busy week here at Bentley, with our special Ofsted visitors spending two days with us in school.

As Headteacher, I am incredibly proud of the staff and children we have. Listening to the inspectors talk about and celebrate the warmth, care and strong sense of community that runs through our school was heart-warming. This culture does not happen by chance – it is the result of consistent hard work, high expectations and a shared commitment to always putting our children first. Every day, our staff go above and beyond to ensure Bentley is a place where children feel safe, valued and ready to learn, and our pupils continue to rise to this with their positive attitudes and kindness towards one another.

Please see below a message from our Chair of Governors:

As you are aware, this week Bentley CE Primary welcomed Ofsted as part of their regular schedule of school inspections. Thank you to all of you who completed the Parent View survey as part of this.

Whilst the inspection process is rightly rigorous and exacting, we found it to be thorough and fair. We have not yet received their draft report. However, they did share with senior leadership their key findings and next steps. We are very pleased that they captured the true sense of our School and were really positive about our pupils, staff, leadership and governance.

Many of you will be aware that since November 2025 Ofsted are using a significantly revised framework to undertake inspections. This sets an even higher standard across all levels of education.  It is worthwhile watching their short video about the new Ofsted report cards so you are familiar with their new grading system. This will help you interpret the final results when published. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/understanding-ofsted-report-cards-and-grades

On behalf of the whole governing body, I want to thank to all the staff and especially our fabulous leadership team. Your collective hard work and dedication to our School shone through. Most of all, I want to thank our pupils who were described as a credit to us displaying a "culture of warmth towards each other and visitors."

This week, I am also extremely proud of the team of children who represented Bentley at the swimming gala this week. Many of our swimmers stepped up into older age categories, showed real determination and quite literally swam their hearts out. It gives me great pleasure to share that Bentley came 2nd place in our school category – a fantastic achievement!

What stood out just as much as the results was the teamwork on display. Children cheered each other on, offered encouragement and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the event, alongside impeccable behaviour. They were wonderful ambassadors for our school. A huge thank you to Mr Williams, Mrs Evans and Mrs Tagg, who made this opportunity possible and supported our children so brilliantly.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing what next week brings at Bentley.

Vicky Hallett,

Headteacher

SAFEGUARDING

The Children’s Commissioner have recently published a new guide, What I wish my parents or carers knew: A guide for parents on managing children’s digital lives

As parents, carers, and educators, our job must begin and end with our children’s care and safety. It’s what they expect and what they want from everyone. As one young person told the Children’s Commissioner: “Don’t be afraid to be firm… If you are worried [that] your child is seeing harmful content and you don’t know what they’re watching and it’s affecting the behaviour, just take it that you know best – they don’t.”
