This week at Bentley...

As we finally reach the end of January, it’s fair to say it has felt like a particularly long month! With February just around the corner, we are all looking forward to those extra minutes of daylight slowly creeping back in – and wouldn’t it be wonderful if they came with a little less rain too?

Thank you to our EYFS families for their patience and good humour over the past few days, particularly those who have been navigating the giant puddle at the entrance. We are pleased to share that a drainage company visited the site this week, so we are hopeful that even if the rain continues, it won’t result in quite such an impressive pool of water!

I would also like to take this opportunity to say a fond farewell to Miss Carter, who has been a wonderful trainee teacher in Year 1. She has been a real asset to the team and has built lovely relationships with the children during her time with us. Miss Carter is now moving on to a different placement at a school in Andover, and while we are excited for her next steps, she will be very much missed by both staff and pupils alike. We wish her every success for the future.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming February and all that it brings.

SAFEGUARDING

Safeguarding and Wellbeing in Our Curriculum
At Bentley CE Primary School, children’s safety, wellbeing, and emotional development are central to everything we do. Our Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) programme is taught through 1decision, a nationally recognised, age-appropriate scheme that supports children to understand feelings, friendships, respect, and healthy relationships. Across all year groups, 1decision helps pupils recognise and respond to bullying, including behaviour linked to gender, identity, or difference, and encourages them to challenge stereotypes in a safe and supportive way. Lessons are reinforced through our school rules, pastoral support, and everyday teaching, helping children feel confident, included, and able to seek help if they need it.

MINIBUS DRIVERS

We are so lucky at Bentley to have the use of two minibuses which we can use when we go on school trips, which helps us to keep costs as low as possible. We are looking for new minibus drivers to ensure we can get full use out of the minibuses; grandparents can apply too. The school would pay for the training. If you are interested then please email the office.

UNIFORM SHED

Unfortunately the second-hand uniform shed is currently out of action. We will update you when it is reopened.

ALTON ARTS FESTIVAL

Alton Arts Festival is a not-for-profit celebration of arts, creativity, and community. Our school is proud to be taking part in their Children’s Programme this year.

Alton Arts Festival has three fantastic fundraising events coming up, including events for children, adults, and lovers of live music. Every ticket sold helps fund the Children’s Programme, which brings a wide range of creative workshops into 14 schools across the Alton cluster during Schools Week (1–5 June).

By supporting these events, families are directly helping to fund opportunities for our own pupils to take part in inspiring arts activities as part of Alton Arts Festival 2026.
