It has certainly been a week of children challenging themselves across the school!
Our Year 5 children have taken part in their Bikeability course this week. The intensive two-day course helped the children learn how to ride their bikes safely, as well as how to carry out important safety checks. We were incredibly proud that all of the children successfully completed the challenge of cycling out around the village and learning how to ride safely on roads. I also received several lovely reports from members of the community who saw the children out and about and were very impressed with their cycling ability and safety skills. Well done, Year 5!
School has been a little quieter this week, as our Year 3 and Year 4 children have been away on their residential visit to the Gordon Brown Centre. The feedback so far has been that they have had a brilliant time, and we cannot wait to hear all about their adventures next week. A huge thank you must go to all of the staff who accompanied the children — residential visits simply would not be possible without staff willing to give up their own time to support these wonderful opportunities.
Today, on David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, we were also delighted to hold the official opening of our Attenborough Pollinator Garden. This has been a true community project, under the careful guidance of Madam Jones. There are so many people to thank — children, families and local residents alike — for their support and contributions. We are very excited to share the garden with all of the children next week.
Next week, our Year 6 children will be taking their SATs tests. We are all incredibly proud of them, and their resilience and determination have truly shone through. I am sure you will all join me in wishing them the very best of luck. We are also looking forward to the traditional SATs breakfasts together each morning!

Governors have set the attendance target for the school at 97%. The class with the best attendance last week was Year 1 again. Well done 1!
Attendance figures for each class for last week are below:
As part of our safeguarding responsibilities it is vitally important that we know where children are, and that they are safe, during the school day. We therefore really appreciate parents remembering to let us know as soon as possible after 8.15am if their child is unwell or running late.
As part of our wrap-around care offer, it is also very important that we know which children to expect on site before and after school, so please make sure that you always book your child into after-school club or breakfast club. We know that sometimes plans change, so on the day you will need to call the school office to amend a booking. Please do not just drop your child off in the morning, or leave them at school, without a booking as we may not have the staff to cover the numbers. Please also remember that breakfast club starts at 7.45am. Children must not arrive before this time, and they must be taken into the Rainbow room and signed in by an adult, not dropped at the gate at this time.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Well done to those children who were awarded a gold card. We’re very proud of you!

Don’t forget to keep playing Arithmagicians to earn points, which can be exchanged for house points, extra playtime, and even an ice lolly with Mrs Blake—something many children have already purchased ready to enjoy after half term!
Due to continuing supplier issues, the green option on Tuesday will be Tomato Pasta. Those children with special diet menus can have this option made with gluten free pasta, if applicable.

MORE THAN A PITCH CAMPAIGN
We’re sharing an important local initiative from More House School that you may want to support.
“We know how powerful sport can be in a child’s life, building confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging. Yet this year, waterlogged pitches and cancelled matches have meant too many missed opportunities for young people.
More House School is working to change that by building an all weather 3G pitch for its students and the wider Farnham community.
To help make this happen, the community is coming together for the More Than a Pitch Celebrity Football Match.
📅 Saturday 9 May 2026
⏰ 3:00 PM
📍 Farnham Town Football Club
🎟 Tickets £12
Featuring Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Karen Carney, Wayne Bridge and Jay Bothroyd, alongside stars from Strictly Come Dancing, Gladiators and EastEnders, with more names to be announced.
Every ticket or donation brings us closer to a life changing facility that will give young people a place to play, grow in confidence and belong — all year round. This really is More Than a Pitch.
