Thank you to parents for sending children to school in their PE kits. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Please remember that the usual PE safety rules still apply: long hair must be tied back, earrings must be removed or taped, and no jewellery should be worn. If your child wears trainers as part of their everyday school uniform, these must be plain black.

We have received a complaint from a local resident about unsafe parking around the school, particularly on the zigzag lines and along School Lane. Parking in these areas reduces visibility for drivers and pedestrians, increases congestion and creates an unnecessary risk for children crossing the road. Please park safely and considerately at both drop-off and collection times, even if this means parking a little further away and walking to the school gates. The safety of our children and families must come first.

We are very grateful to everyone who has volunteered to undertake minibus training. We thoroughly appreciate you giving up your time to support the school and the opportunities we can offer our children.

We hope to see lots of you at the PTFA event on the recreation ground after school tomorrow evening. We are also looking forward to Quiz Night on 16 October! Mr Williams is already busy preparing the questions—and we have reminded him that they cannot all be about sport! It would be wonderful to see lots of you there; more information will follow soon.

SAFEGUARDING

Keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility. Please help us by parking safely and considerately at drop-off and collection times, avoiding the zigzag lines and any areas that restrict visibility. Sensible parking ensures that children, families and local residents can see clearly and cross the roads around our school safely. Parking a little further away and walking to the school gates can make a significant difference to everyone’s safety.

WALK ALTON

Did you know that there is a resource for walks in Alton? The Walk Alton website features almost 40 local walks, fully mapped and described (with pictures) so your families can go off exploring their local area. Some are long, some are short, some are in Alton, some are slightly further afield - but they all offer great opportunities to get out and about, and older children can have a go at using the instructions or map to navigate for themselves!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ECO UPDATE

Eco Council – 2026-2027

It was great to meet up with the new Eco Council this week, led by our fabulous Year 6 Eco Leaders, Sarmad, Arthur and Pippa. Eco Council is for children in Years 1-6 and is divided into three teams: Team Energy, Team Food and Team Ocean.  Each team will be allocated a project as well as regular jobs such as switching off the lights and handing out the litter picker backpacks. As well as receiving a special Eco Council badge, the children were also given their own mascot, a dolphin, kindly donated by the charity WWF.  For regular Eco Council updates, please see the weekly newsletter.

Bentley’s Terra Carta

As part of our regular Eco Lessons the children have been learning about climate change and the impacts that it is having on their lives.  Pupils at Bentley have been taking action for the planet for several years and understand that they can make a difference.  Inspired by the book, It’s Up to Us, the children have created a Terra Carta – Earth Charter – for our school.  There are 8 actions in total and all begin with the bold words – We will…
