It has been another busy week at Bentley, with lots of classes out and about, enjoying opportunities to learn beyond the classroom and spend time in our community.
I hope some of you were able to visit Alton Assembly Rooms to see the children’s artwork on display. Well done to everyone whose work was exhibited, with a special congratulations to Phoebe in Year R, who won an award for her leaf printing! What a wonderful achievement.
Year 3 have also been out in the community this week, visiting Bentley Lodge to meet the residents and spend time making poppies together. Sharing conversation and creativity across the generations is a lovely way for our children to put our value of Community into action.
Thank you to everyone who attended parents’ evening. Attendance has been really high, and we greatly value these opportunities to share your children’s achievements and discuss their next steps with you. I would love us to reach 100%, so if you were unable to attend, your child’s class teacher will be in touch to arrange another appointment.
I am very much looking forward to our quiz tonight and hope to see many of you there! A huge thank you to the PTFA for organising the evening and, of course, to Mr Williams for creating all the questions and taking on the role of Quiz Master. It promises to be a lovely evening together, with plenty of friendly competition!
Have a great weekend

If you receive Universal Credit, and have not already done so, please follow this link, Free school meals for pupils up to 16 years old | Education and learning | Hampshire County Council or let the school office know (any information will be kept strictly confidential). The deadline for applying for Free School Meals has been extended, and as well as providing a free meal for your child each day, the school also gets extra funding to support your child. If your child usually brings a packed lunch, or is in Reception, Year 1 or 2, and you receive Universal Credit, please also apply.
On Monday 19th October the school photographer is coming in to school to take individual photos of all the children. Please make sure that all children are wearing their usual smart school uniform on Monday. Year R children also have PE and Forest Explorers on this day – a separate email has already been sent out with details of what your child needs to bring in on Monday so that they can change after their photo has been taken.
Children with siblings in school will have photos with their siblings as well as individually during the school day. If you would like a photo taken of your child with a sibling not yet in school, please come to the Sports Hall between 8.15am and 8.45am on Monday.

We know that lots of the children are already very excited about their residentials later this year. Please remember that the deadline to pay the deposits is this Monday, 19th October.
Year R children were delighted to welcome the Springbox Gymnastics Coaches and Hubert the Gymnast Bear to school on Monday for a fun-filled, interactive storytelling session!
The children were taken on a magical journey through Hubert’s Fairground Adventure, bringing a story to life through movement, music and imagination.
Hubert’s Gymnastics Adventures is a series of three beautifully illustrated books that cleverly combine storytelling with early years gymnastics, encouraging children to get active, develop their confidence and discover a love of movement.
The books were written by Sophie Ince, who runs the gymnastics club at the school, and are available to purchase on Amazon.
Simply search “Hubert’s Gymnastics Adventures” or discover the latest book, Hubert’s Travel Adventure by clicking here: https://amzn.eu/d/02wNGbZZ
Profits from the sale of the books will be donated to The Brain Tumour Charity.
