This week at Bentley...
It has certainly been a week of children challenging themselves across the school!

What a week it has been at Bentley!
What a glorious week of sunshine it has been! It has been lovely to see the children enjoying eating outside at lunchtimes – a sure sign that summer is on its way.
Welcome back! I hope you all had a lovely Easter break and managed to enjoy some quality time with family and friends. I was fortunate enough to spend a long weekend in Paris with my daughter. We had a fantastic time sightseeing, followed by plenty of time relaxing and “charging our batteries,” as my dad would say!
As we come to the end of a very busy Spring term, it’s hard to believe how quickly it has flown by!
It has been wonderful hearing all about Year 5’s residential visit to Calshot. What an incredible experience for them! I have to admit, I’ve been a little jealous—especially of the amazing-sounding breakfasts, which seemed to be a real highlight and something all the children were talking about!
It has been a little quieter around school this week as out Year 5 class have been away on residential at Calshot Activity Centre. It has been wonderful hearing how the children have been challenging themselves through the updates shared by staff and through the blog on the school website. The team at Calshot have also been sharing how amazing the Year 5 children have been throughout their stay.
This week seems to have flown past!
What a wonderful day of sunshine we enjoyed on Wednesday! It certainly gave us all hope that more springtime weather is just around the corner. The brighter days really do lift everyone’s spirits.
It has been another busy week in school. We had wonderful music performances from EYFS and Key Stage 1, well done! Thank you and very well done also to Year 4 who lead a brilliant class assembly all about the water cycle. I have been told they spoke clearly and confidently and shared their knowledge brilliantly. And of course, their singing was amazing! I was so sorry to have missed it.
As Headteacher, it fills me with immense pride when I receive feedback about how wonderfully our children represent Bentley when they are out at school events. The way they live out our school values and follow our rules beyond the school gates truly speaks volumes.
As we finally reach the end of January, it’s fair to say it has felt like a particularly long month! With February just around the corner, we are all looking forward to those extra minutes of daylight slowly creeping back in – and wouldn’t it be wonderful if they came with a little less rain too?
