Max leading the campfire singing yesterday evening!

We slept really well last night after such a busy day yesterday! We are very sad that it is our last day at the Gordon Brown Centre but also glad to be going home to our families today. We had another good breakfast, then packed our bags and headed out for our final activity.

After the initial excitement of Year 3 moving into the accommodation yesterday, everyone slept well, and we were ready for another active day outdoors. There was another bunkbed inspection – it was getting quite competitive! Then we headed off to breakfast.

After filling up on toast and cereal, we headed out to collect firewood and worked in teams of four to build our fires.  We learnt how to build our own campfires. It was great fun and the children helped each other to achieve their goal – popping some corn! We all had a brilliant time and Mrs Matthews was very impressed with the great team-work and their forest school skills.

Then we had a break with more delicious goodies from home and a chance to play with our friends. Some children played with the sports equipment we had brought from school, others chatted and played board games from home and some got to go and cuddle the rabbits.

For lunch we filled up on meat or veggie hot dogs, served with French fries and corn on the cob. There was an oat crunch biscuit for pudding today.

Mrs Matthews and Arthur went on a "mission cookie" to rescue his cookies before Year 3 ate them!

In the afternoon, we got to run around like mad for laser tag in the woods and then had to be focused and cooperate well for the second trim trail of the week that included a variety of different obstacles.

After a little break to get cleaned up, we will be joined by Year 3 for dinner.

Dinner today is pasta and meatballs and then pudding.

For our final evening activity, we will be having a campfire with Year 3 and singing songs with some stories too. We are sad that it's the last evening activity – we have settled in really well now! After our hot chocolate and biscuit, we will get into our beds, and hopefully have a well deserved sleep!

After the initial excitement, we slept well, and we were ready for another active day outdoors.  Once we had our first bunkbed inspection – we had learnt from Year 4, it’s quite competitive! – we headed off to breakfast.

We fuelled up on some toast and cereal. We then met with our GBC leader and began our morning activity.  The children were so pleased to have a go at archery. We learnt how to do archery and enjoyed whizzing by on the zip line! We worked hard on our technique and had to concentrate well.  Well done Bentley archers!

For lunch we enjoyed a lovely beef sausage hot dog/vegetarian hot dog with Year 4. This gave us more energy to tackle our afternoon activity.

After a little break, we will get all cleaned up and then join Year 4 for dinner. Today's dinner will be beef or vegetarian meatballs with spaghetti, tomato sauce and cheese.

For our final evening activity, we will be having a campfire with Year 4.

We are already feeling a bit sad as it's our last day, but we are looking forward to telling stories and singing songs together. Also, we are looking forward to having some hot chocolate and marshmallows before we get into our beds!

We will now leave you with some pictures of our teachers too, we can see who had more fun!

For dinner, we will be having a lovely tomato pasta bake and could also have grated cheese and garlic bread with it.

After dinner, we will be heading back to our rooms for a little break before Movie Night with Year 4. Hopefully, we will have some relaxing time with a hot chocolate and a biscuit before getting ready for bed!

Despite a little bit of excited chatter before bedtime, we had a good sleep and were eager to get up and going for Day 2. We had our first bunkbed inspections to see which group could be the tidiest – it will be interesting to see who wins when the results are announced on Friday!

After a shower, we walked over to breakfast. Everyone ate well, Miss Oakley was kept very busy on toaster duty! There was a choice of 3 different cereals and toast with a variety of spreads. After breakfast, we washed out and filled up our water bottles for the busy day ahead.

For our first activities of day 2, we did archery and also got to go on the long zip line. It was great fun and pretty fast!

We also made some lovely friendship bracelets.

Mrs Matthews, Ms Oakley, and Mr Metters could not hold back from the fun, so they had to join in too!

Then it was time to try out some of the delicious cakes and biscuits from home and enjoy a play time before lunchtime. Year 3 then arrived with Miss Hastie, Mrs Pond and Mrs Chouler.

We all enjoyed lunch together – fish fingers or vegetable fingers with chips and peas on the side.

After lunch, we did some awesome climbing.

For dinner, we will be having pasta bake and garlic bread and could also have fruit and pudding.

Then we will be going back to our rooms for a little break before Movie Night. We joined Year 3 and had a relaxing time. Afterwards, like the previous night, we will have some hot chocolate and a biscuit before getting ready for bed. Some children might be expecting this when they get home!

After finding our bunk beds and unpacking their bags and cases, Year 4 had a bit of time before lunch to settle in and chat about the week ahead. Then we walked over to the cafeteria and had a delicious lunch of chicken/veggie sausages with different vegetables on the side.

Our activities started in a really fun way with the Low Ropes Trail.  This has been expanded further since last year, and we enjoyed trying it out!  We had to cooperate well to complete the trail. It was good!

Then we had a little break and had a chance to play with our friends and visit the animals.

After our busy afternoon, we were really hungry and happy to get back to the cafeteria again!  Being outdoors had given us good appetites.  We had macaroni cheese and salad for our main course.

For our evening activity, we went for a lovely walk in the countryside around the Gordon Brown Centre, visited an original air raid shelter and came back ready to get washed and into our beds.  After story time in our dorm rooms and a little bit of quiet reading, it was time for some sleep.
