  • This week at Bentley...

It was wonderful to welcome our new Year R children and their parents into school this week. Our current Year 6 children did an exceptional job showing families around the school, and we received some fantastic feedback about the tours. We are incredibly proud of how confident, articulate, and responsible our children are, and it was a pleasure to hear how they acted as such excellent ambassadors for our school.

This week, we have also been especially proud of our Year 1 and Year 4 children. Our Year 1 pupils completed their statutory Phonics Screening Check, while our Year 4 pupils undertook the Multiplication Tables Check. Throughout the week, they have demonstrated outstanding attitudes to learning, resilience, and determination. We are so proud of the effort they have all put in.

Some of our Year R children enjoyed a special visit to Bentley Station this week, where they planted sunflower seeds to help brighten the local community. We are keeping our fingers crossed that they will bloom soon, bringing colour and smiles to everyone who passes through the station.

A huge thank you goes to Mr Williams, who took a large group of children to an athletics meet in Aldershot this week. Despite the challenging weather conditions, a fantastic time was had by all. We are grateful to Mr Williams and all the accompanying adults whose support made the event possible.

With just one week to go until BFEST, excitement levels are certainly building! We cannot wait to see you there and look forward to what promises to be a wonderful event for our whole school community.

    Have a wonderful weekend

    SALESIAN COLLEGE JUNIOR GAMES

Earlier this week Mr Williams took a team to Aldershot Military Stadium for an athletics competition. 15 local schools took part for a memorable morning of athletics.

More than 250 boys and girls from Years 4 and 5 took part in a wide range of track and field events, demonstrating an impressive level of skill, determination and sporting behaviour throughout. Track events included the 80m sprint, 150m race and team relays, while field events featured long jump, vortex throwing and softball throw.

Despite challenging weather conditions, all athletes performed with exceptional enthusiasm and commitment. The event was well attended, with friends, teachers and families providing unwavering support from the sidelines. The atmosphere was electric, with spectators cheering participants on until the final race concluded.

“I liked athletics because of the races. Even though I came fourth I still enjoyed it.” (Edie)

“I really enjoyed it because it was a great experience and I came first and second.” (Elliott)

Hidden Treasure Hunt – a national recycling challenge

Great news!  You now have until 6th July to recycle your unwanted tech!  Please hunt out unwanted or broken tech and electrical items at home and recycle them at Curry’s or at Farnham and Alton Recycling Centres – click here for more details.  Please note, if you are NOT dropping off your items at Currys, please take a photo when you recycle them to upload as evidence – you will be asked to upload this photo when you register – click here to register and scroll down to ‘How to register your recycling’.

Every time a family registers their recycling, our school earns a Planet Care Point and moves up the national leaderboard. Schools can win thousands of pounds in Currys’ vouchers for Microsoft tech, and families who take part are entered into prize draws to win Currys’ vouchers for Microsoft tech too. As an extra incentive Eco Council will be awarding a ‘Dolphin Award’ to those children who participate.  Pupils should bring in a photo of them recycling their tech at Curry’s or a recycling centre.  Please note only one dolphin will be awarded per child.

Please do get involved and share with your friends and family to help us to win some Microsoft tech for our school. The campaign runs until 6th July 2026.
