  • This week at Bentley...

As week four comes to a close, we want to say how incredibly proud we are of our Year R children. They have shown such joy and resilience as they settle into school life. This week, they met their Year 6 buddies for the first time. Both groups were excited to get to know each other and are looking forward to spending more time together.

    Welcome to our new teachers

    Meet Mrs Carpenter
I have been teaching since 2015, having completed a degree in Primary Education at the University of Chichester. Over the years, I have taught across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and have taken on a range of leadership responsibilities during my career, including leading English at my previous school and now at Bentley. I am very pleased to have joined the team at Bentley this year and am looking forward to getting to know the children and families.

Outside of school, I’m married to Ian and a mum to Theo and Evie, and enjoy spending time with my family. We love going on holiday, with skiing being a particular favourite. We also spend lots of time in Cornwall, which has become a favourite place for us to visit. At the weekend, I can often be found on the sideline of a football pitch, cheering on my son's team. I’m also a big fan of autumn and Christmas and love a good vanilla latte. I’m happiest when I have something to look forward to, whether that’s a holiday, a day out or simply time with family and friends.

    Meet Miss Rose
I’m delighted to have joined Bentley School this year and become part of the Year R team as their class teacher. I'm Miss Rose and it has been a pleasure welcoming our new Year R children and supporting them as they settle into their first year of school. As a new member of the school community, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the children and staff across all year groups. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year ahead, filled with exciting learning opportunities and lots of happy memories!

This week, we were treated to a recorder performance by Polly and Jess, our music teacher. Jess then amazed us with her wonderful flute playing! If your child would like to learn the recorder or flute, Jess has availability. Please contact the school office for more information.

Thank you to the members of Bentley, Froyle and Binsted churches who came to school this week to say hello and share information with our community. It was lovely to see you, and the brownies were delicious!

It was wonderful to see so many of you at the PTFA social on the rec. Although the weather was not quite on our side, it was still a lovely turnout. Thank you to everyone who came along.

Thank you also to everyone who attended the PTFA AGM this week. A huge thank you to outgoing chairs Mollie and Sarah, who have worked tirelessly to raise money for our school. They have passed the mantle to Sarah Anslow, Hayley Walters and Lauren Fairley. The new team has already been busy planning lots of fun events for the year ahead, and we look forward to hearing more!

    WALK ALTON

Did you know that there is a resource for walks in Alton? The Walk Alton website features almost 40 local walks, fully mapped and described (with pictures) so your families can go off exploring their local area. Some are long, some are short, some are in Alton, some are slightly further afield - but they all offer great opportunities to get out and about, and older children can have a go at using the instructions or map to navigate for themselves!
