At Bentley, we teach French as our Modern Foreign Language (MFL) from Year R. We believe learning a foreign language enriches children's experiences of their immediate world and provides an opening to other cultures and communities. Our MFL curriculum fosters our children's curiosity and deepens their understanding of the wider world. It enables children to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers, both in speech and in writing. It also provides opportunities for them to communicate for practical purposes. We believe our curriculum provides a strong foundation for learning further languages later and may inspire them to hope to study and work in other countries. |
