THIS WEEK AT BENTLEY...

I realised I missed a thank you last week - a huge thank you to Al Marshall and Georgie Tagg for helping to build the new raised beds in the quad. These will be fantastic for Gardening Club on Fridays, and we can't wait to see them in use!

The new clubs list has now been sent out. Having worked in several different schools, I am always incredibly impressed with Bentley's offer - it is so varied! A special thank you to Mrs Hamid, who works tirelessly to organise such a wonderful range of opportunities for the children.

The sun is shining today, and I have had so many children come up to me to say how much they loved the sunshine – I could not agree more! At lunchtime, I watched a couple of boys playing with a digger, carefully moving little stones from one area to another and then back again. They were completely engrossed in their challenge, and it was a joy to see their concentration and teamwork in action.

It has also been wonderful to hear all about Year 5’s adventures at Calshot last week. The children shared so many of their favourite activities, with team challenges, rock climbing, and skiing being firm favourites – oh, and of course, the food! The school felt a little strange without them, so it is lovely to have them back and to hear all about their experiences.

Wishing you all a lovely week ahead!

RED NOSE DAY

We have loved seeing everyone’s bright and colourful clothes today, and thank you for all the donations to Comic Relief. We have almost £220! This money will go to good causes that Red Nose Day supports both in the UK and around the world.

HOUSE ART COMPETITION

In the next two weeks, we will be having a house art competition. Please could you help out by donating any magazines or catalogues that we can cut up for collaging, or any fabric, paper or other material in red, blue, green or yellow. We will leave a collection box out in the front playground at drop off on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Many thanks,

ECO UPDATE

Treasure Not Trash – Time for a Spring Clean!

This year we are working with Young ACAN to educate our school community about waste and how to ‘Treasure Not Trash’.  Borrowing from places like libraries or friends and family is a great way of saving money and avoiding buying more stuff!  Another great initiative from ACAN is about to relaunch. The Alton Community Share is a library for toys, board games and puzzles aimed at families.  Before the relaunch on 12th April, the volunteers at the Community Share are looking for new stock.  So why not have a Spring clean and donate your unwanted, good-quality games, toys and puzzles to the open events on March 22nd and 29th at St Lawrence Parish Centre in Alton.

PTFA

Cake sale - Friday 21st March, cakes provided by year 2. 50p per item, cash or card accepted (minimum transaction on a card is £1)

April 1st is April School’s Day!

Children are invited to try to trick their teachers by disguising themselves!

Bring in £1 to take part by dressing up however they wish - as another student? As a famous person? As a Teacher? Any way the teachers might not know who they are!

This could be done with a full costume, a wig, a mask… we look forward to seeing their disguises!

Over the Easter holidays, children will be set a £20.25 challenge. The child with the most creative way to raise £20.25 will win a prize. Maybe they should start thinking now? We can’t wait to see what they come up with!
