This week at bentley...

What a week it has been! We are incredibly proud of our wonderful Year 6 pupils, who sat their SATs tests this week. With six tests spread across four mornings, it was certainly a challenge – but one they met with courage, resilience and perseverance, all values we hold dear here at Bentley. They truly did themselves – and us – proud.

Today, I’ve had the pleasure of accompanying the children on their well-deserved reward trip to Legoland! It was be a fantastic day of fun, laughter and celebration after all their hard work.

A huge thank you goes to all the staff and governors who supported SATs week in so many ways – from preparing SATs breakfasts, supporting children during the tests, or simply helping to keep the school calm and quiet. Bentley really is a great team to be part of, and weeks like this one highlight just how special our school community is.

We are also enormously grateful to Paul Chandler, who – along with his brother – not only installed our brilliant new gym play equipment, but also arranged for it to be donated by the company he works for. What an incredible gift to the school! The children have absolutely loved using it already, and it’s sure to be a favourite for many years to come.

This week, I was also invited to a special viewing of the animations that our Year R children have been working on. Their creations, themed around patterns and the number 13, were incredibly impressive. The children were able to confidently explain how stop animation works and how they created their final films – such fantastic IT skills being developed at such a young age. Well done, Year R!

A quick safeguarding reminder: children should not be left unattended on the playground in the mornings. Staff supervising Breakfast Club are only responsible for children who are signed into the club. To help us keep everyone safe, please ensure children do not arrive before 8.40am unless they are attending Breakfast Club.

I can hardly believe there’s just one week to go until half term – the time has flown by!

ATTENDANCE

Governors have set the attendance target for the school at 97%. Last week the overall attendance rate for the whole school was 89.45%. The class with the best attendance was Year 3 again. Well done year 3!

Attendance figures for each class for last week are below:

SAFEGUARDING – EVERYBODY’S BUSINESS

The recent Netflix drama Adolescence has highlighted the troubling rise of Incel communities and their influence on young people. As a parent, it is important to understand this online subculture, recognise warning signs and engage in open conversations with your child.

We hope this information helpful but do contact our Designated Safeguarding Leads Mrs Hallett and Mrs Miffling if you have any concerns.
