This week at Bentley...

A huge thank you to everyone who had a school dinner on Census Day – this really helps our school and your support makes a big difference. Thank you also to all those who completed the catering survey. It was wonderful to see so many positive comments. The strengths you highlighted included the amount of choice available, the popular salad bar, the quality of food, the larger portions, the fresh bread each day and, of course, the much-loved jacket potatoes.
You also gave us some really sensible suggestions about how meals could be made even better. Some of these changes can be put in place straight away – for example, less pepper in the macaroni cheese and less spice in the hotter dishes. Now that our kitchen staff have worked through the full three-week cycle, they will be adjusting these meals. Other suggestions are outside our immediate control, but we have already passed them on to Caterlink for discussion. These included requests for more pizza and roast dinner days, and the option of cups at the hydration station.
Hopefully you have also seen my recent Agent of Change letter. I am very excited to introduce this to the children. There is already so much they do to make a difference in our world and I want not only to celebrate this, but also to raise awareness that we can all play our part in being the change we want to see. Badges will be handed out as part of our Friday Celebration Worship.
This week we also held the PTFA AGM, which was a wonderful opportunity to share and celebrate all of the hard work and achievements of the past year. A big thank you to everyone who attended and to all who volunteered their time during one of the events. It truly would not be possible without your help and support.
I am delighted to share that the wonderful Mrs Siers will be gradually returning next week. We have missed her greatly and cannot wait to welcome her back.
Looking ahead, our first open day session is coming up in a few weeks. If you know families with children due to start in Year R in September 2026, please do encourage them to come and visit us. Similarly, we currently have spaces available for Year 3 next year and would love to welcome new families into the Bentley community.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

SAFEGUARDING – PLEASE READ!
Prevent training is a pivotal part in safeguarding training that we covered in our September INSET and we will revisit again in February. Governors also have to complete training on this too. This is about radicalisation and extremism and how we as a school and a community can ensure that we live in a respectful and peaceful way.
ATTENDANCE
Governors have set the attendance target for the school at 97%. The class with the best attendance last week was Year 2. Well done Year 2!
Attendance figures for each class for last week are below:

ECO UPDATE
Parent and Governor Eco Workshop – Monday 20th October @ 9am
Our school is passionate about looking after our planet so that future generations can enjoy it. We would like to share this with you at our first Eco Workshop for Bentley parents and governors. The session will be run by our sustainability lead, Madame Jones, with help from some members of Eco Council. Together they will share what we are doing as a school to equip our school community with the knowledge and skills to face the challenges of climate change.
ACAN Open Meeting – 16th October
Bentley is proud to be a member of the Young ACAN Schools’ Partnership, working with all our local schools to provide climate education to our children. Young ACAN is part of ACAN, a charity which oversees a range of groups such as the Repair Café, Community Cupboard and Community Share. On Thursday 16th October there will be an open meeting to enable participants to find out more and get involved. If you are keen to get involved in positive action for our planet with like-minded people, do come along! See poster for details.
