Ready, Steady, Read...
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, we have partnered with Usborne Books to arrange a Sponsored Read - Ready Steady Read - with all the funds raised going towards new books for our super school library.
In addition to the sponsorship money, Usborne will also donate up to 60% of the total raised in EXTRA FREE BOOKS for the school. So, for every £600 raised, we will get an extra £360 in FREE Usborne books!
Please help us to enhance our reading resources for pupils by encouraging your child to spend a small amount of time each day either reading to themselves, to others, or being read to. They can read books, comics, magazines, newspapers, menus, websites, recipes, poems, leaflets, instructions – anything with words!
We have set the following target for the children:
- Year R children will read four books - they don't have to be really long
- Year 1 and 2 should read six books
- Year 3 and 4 should aim for 75 minutes reading
- Year 5 and 6 should aim for 100 minutes
If you are able to support our sponsored read over half-term, please find attached a sponsorship form. After the sponsored read, please send all the money your child has raised to the school by 18th March. Alternatively, you are able to deposit funds electronically through www.scopay.com, via the Ready Steady Read item.
We look forward to having lots more books for your child to read, share and enjoy. For more information about Usborne Books visit www.usborne.com/schools.
We are hoping all our children will spend some time reading over the holidays - whether part of the sponsored read or not - a little each day can make such a difference!
