Autumn 2022

A very warm welcome back to school this term! I hope you have all enjoyed the sunshine and a good break this summer. This is a brief newsletter with just the key information for next week.

Meet the teacher

Our teachers are keen to show you the classrooms, say hello and share plans and routines for the year, at our ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions next week.  This year we are running the sessions both in person for those who would like to come along, and also on a live Zoom link.  We will send the presentations out to all parents after the session.  Sessions will run from 2.45pm – 3pm in the classroom, and Zoom links will be sent out for all the sessions on Monday morning.

Year 1 – Monday 5th September

Year 2 – Monday 12th September

Year 3 – Wednesday 7th September

Year 4 – Friday 9th September

Year 5 – Tuesday 6th September

Year 6 – Thursday 8th September

We will send out the Zoom links next week.

There is not a date for Year R as we held our session last term. Miss Pidden and Mrs Evamy have really appreciated the home visits this week and look forward to welcoming the children at school for their special induction sessions next week.

Apple picking

Our PTFA have raised considerable funds by collecting windfall apples and selling the juice within the local community. If you have decent windfall apples, or know a neighbour with a tree, please bring in bags of apples and leave them between the two birch trees in the staff car park. Label the bags if you’d like them back. It is a bumper crop this year, but we need to move fast due to the hot weather.

The classes will each take a local walk to a local neighbour’s orchard to pick apples. We would love willing adults to join us, sorry no dogs or buggies on this occasion. These are the planned dates, but the orchard owners may need to change some due to building work, so we will keep you posted! Meet at 9am in the staff car park to join the apple picking team;

Years R & 6 - Friday 14th October

Year 1 - Tuesday 6th September

Year 2 - Wednesday 28th September

Year 3 - Monday 19th September

Year 4 - Thursday 15th September

Year 5 - Wednesday 5th October

CLUBS

Details of the clubs for this term will be with you shortly by email.  Please take the time to discuss them with your child to help them make their choice for this term but help them to choose options as some clubs may be over-subscribed.  We have also shared information about teacher clubs for the spring term and assume that external led clubs will continue for the full school year. We will process all the clubs on Tuesday morning, so please make sure you have completed your child’s choices as soon as possible.   Information about how to do this will be included in the email.

Year 2 – Charlotte Heath & Emma Hunt

Year 3 – Iona Hunt & Alec Oppenheim

Year 4 – Tegan Hansen & Sophie Robinson

Year 6 – Cress Mizen & Sara Wood

We know you will all give them lots of support!

Welcome BBQ

We would love to see everyone in the family at our special Welcome BBQ next Friday from 4pm – 7pm.  We’d really love all friends, family and former pupils to join us for the PTFA’s first event of the year – it’s a great chance to catch up with old friends, meet new ones, and to welcome all our new families to the school.  There will be meat and plant based burgers, sausages, wine, beer, soft drinks and children’s refreshments.  We look forward to seeing you there! If you can help out with a shift prepping, serving or tidying up please let one of the PTFA Chairs or Reps know.
